WarnerMedia announced that all British cult favorite “Doctor Who” will be available exclusively on the streaming service HBO Max when it launches in spring 2020. The deal will give HBO Max subscribers access to 11 seasons of “Doctor Who,” beginning with the Ninth Doctor episodes that premiered in 2005.
The addition of “Doctor Who” to the HBO Max library is part of a long-term deal the service has made with BBC Studios. The service will also be home to episodes of “The Office” (starring Ricky Gervais), “Top Gear, “Luther,” “The Honorable Woman” and future seasons of “Doctor Who” after they air on BBC America. HBO Max’s library already includes shows like “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Friends.”
The streaming service also has plans for original content, including a continuation of “Gossip Girl,” a half-hour romantic comedy starring Anna Kendrick and an animated series based off “Gremlins.”
